When I was young I read a lot of Flemish comics: Jommeke, Suske & Wiske, Kiekeboe, Nero, ... Because we have such a rich comic scene (though mostly for younger kids) I didn't get in contact with American comics that much. I do remember buying some DC comics back in 1993 or so, but didn't quite like them because they were in French. My first foreign comics were actually manga: Dragonball & Please save my earth. Then I tried reading present-day Marvel comics, but I couldn't make heads or tails of the continuity so I dropped that. Then I tried to read Spiderman and X-Men from the beginning, but again: references to other Marvel comics got me confused, and without something like the CMRO I didn't want to bother. After another few years I started to read my first real American comic series: "Y: The Last Man". And I adored it. Then came the MCU, which I only started to love once Joss Whedon got involved. In the middle of Agents of Shield's first season I realized I was missing a lot of references, so I wound up here.
